When It Stops Being Fun

I was thinking today, during a slow period at work, about all the various opinions regarding what a Master or slave is or isn’t. It occurred to me that most of the defining factors are things that are enjoyable or pleasurable to both Master and slave. Very few times, if ever, is the Master or slave measured or defined not by their willingness to do that which is enjoyable but by the strength of character which moves them to do those things which are not fun or enjoyable or convenient or pleasurable.

One of the old standby sayings regarding consensual relationships be it Master/slave, Dominant/submissive, etc., is that “a Master can make a slave do anything she really wants to do.” What makes a true slave (or Master for that matter), in my estimation, is doing those things that fall outside the sphere of “really want to do”.

As a Master, many times, my wishes will be substantially different than my slave’s ideal of what I should expect of her. These are the times that separate the true slave from those who just “poke it with a stick”.

If a slave rises to the occasion and not only complies with her owner’s wishes but does them the very best she knows how despite her personal feelings regarding his orders, then she has ascended to a peak in her slavery.

The same applies to the Master. There are times (more than just a few) that life would be so much easier to kick back, enjoy a beverage served by a lovely slave, and channel surf away the day’s cares instead of being the “active Master” the relationship demands. More than one relationship with incredible potential has gone by the wayside due to this “abdication” of responsibility by the one in charge.

The easy part of the Master/slave relationship is finding the Master or slave. After that the real work begins but the rewards far surpass the price paid.
